Endowed with a serious core of intense fruit, good length and terrific overall balance, the 2009 continues to open up in the glass, showing its considerable power, depth and grace. The 2008 Barlow Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has a tremendous richness that is a result of the fruit’s ripeness and a solid tannin structure that will allow it to mature and soften nicely over time. Dark and decadent, the palate has a sweet rum raisin quality which is layered between crushed blackberries, black currant interwoven with tobacco leaf, smoke, and forest floor. A good showing of balance and complexity makes this wine accessible now. 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2007 Unfiltered Barlow Estate Cabernet Sauvignon may be the finest wine of the vintage. It has a solid tannin structure that will allow it to mature nicely over time, but I love the pure black currant fruit interwoven with tobacco leaf, ink, smoke, and forest floor. The aroma shows the essence of our property with black sour cherry, rum raisin and just a hint of French vanilla. Medium to full-bodied, pure, rich, and convincing, give it 2-3 years of cellaring and enjoy it over the following 15+.

Dark and decadent, but with a good showing of balance and complexity makes this wine accessible now but can also be cellared for years to come. The aroma captures the property with it's classic black sour cherry and a hint of sweet French oak.

2005 Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2005 vintage is being considered by many the “vintage of the decade. Calistoga had over 50 inches of rain in 2005 and the ground remained saturated well into summer, which helped control berry size. As summer proceeded we had our usual 100 degree days but the nights remained cool so the vines could rest. Before we knew the Cabernet Sauvignon was ready to pick and by late September the leaves were changing and fruit was ready. Our 2005 unfiltered Estate Cabernet Sauvignon fills the glass with dark currants and rum raisin with just a hint of French vanilla. The palate is loaded with black sour cherry flavors and hints of ripe plum that are woven around the soft tannins. We feel that the 2005 is one of the best wines we have made.
